Attendance is Important
This time of year, students have many excuses for missing band lessons. "I have play (soccer, basketball, baseball) practice after school." or "It's too early to get up for before-school lessons." or "I have a test (review, lab experiment) during my school lesson." Do you as parents know that your children may be missing band because of these excuses? Most times, classroom teachers will go over missed material with band students during another time. Often, extra-curricular activities go beyond the scheduled after-school band time, and kids may be allowed to attend their other activities when band is over. Your child's attendance in band lessons is important! With only 2 lessons per week, a lot of material is covered in class. Also, because playing an instrument is a skill, regular attendance in needed to improve. The band director and the rest of the band is counting on your child to be there!
