Kim Taube

Ms. Taube grew up in Northwest Georgia where she received her Bachelors and Masters of music degrees in flute performance and music education from University of West Georgia. She taught two years there and then moved to Texas where she taught for six years in middle school, high school, and college. She has taught with MES since 2006 and has served as the Director of Education since 2012.  Ms. Taube’s primary instrument is flute. She has performed professionally in many ensembles including the Lake Shore Symphony, Petite Opera Productions Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, Abilene Opera Orchestra, and the Atlanta Wind Symphony. Although her primary instrument is flute, she is proficient at all band instruments, and performs frequently as a woodwind specialist.

One of the greatest moments for Ms. Taube was performing David Maslanka’s Song Book for Flute and Wind Ensemble. She states, “His music just touches the soul.”

Ms. Taube’s favorite part of teaching is seeing the looks on her students faces when they have achieved something they thought unattainable. “Music is great for stretching one’s abilities and self-esteem and it is wonderful to see this in action.” She believes band is a great way to teach students social skills, etiquette, and responsibility.

In her leisure time, Ms. Taube enjoys listening to all kinds of music, reading, watching movies, and playing her flute.
