Teresa Hill was born and raised in south Florida. She had wonderful band teachers (she still keeps in touch with the teacher who got her started in 7th grade!) and experiences throughout junior high and high school, which inspired her to pursue music teaching. She has taught for almost 20 years and has been with Music Education Services since August 2000. Prior to joining MES she taught in Madison, Wisconsin and southeast Alaska. Her primary instrument is French horn, but she is proficient on all band instruments through a junior high level.
She has always loved working with upper elementary and middle school-aged students, especially getting them started in band as beginners. “Everything is brand new to them. It's wonderful watching them get excited as they learn new concepts and actually play a simple tune for the first time!” She loves building teamwork within her groups, encouraging students to help each other out and work together for the common good.
She loves listening to all kinds of music, dependent on her mood at the time. She enjoys everything from the great symphonies to simple guitar/vocal pieces. “There is truly something for everyone out there, if you look for it!” Her favorite musical experiences are with her church family, singing simple hymns and choruses.
When she is not teaching, she is heavily involved in ministry at her church through Sunday School, Youth Group and other areas, and works part-time for a foundation dedicated to assisting churches with growth, practical needs of their workers, local and international missions and leadership development. She also loves to read, spend time with friends and family, and travel, especially to England, where her husband is from.
