Ms. Rachel Daum grew up in the southwestern suburbs, and was introduced to music at the age of 11 when she joined band on the flute. Since then, music has become the center of her life; as she continued in school, she became increasingly involved in band and music activities, the height of which being when she had the honor of marching in the 2005 Inaugural Parade with the Lincoln-Way Central Marching Knights.
She attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in music education. While at Wartburg, she joined the Wartburg College Concert Bands, flute choir, and the Wartburg-Waverly Community Symphony.
Upon graduating in 2010, Ms. Daum earned a position as a substitute teacher with Music Education Services. This will be her fourth year as a teacher, and she is enjoying it immensely!
In her free time, she enjoys participating in (and occasionally directing) the handbell and voice choirs at her church and learning how to play the piano.
Ms. Daum particularly enjoys working with beginner and junior high band students because music is so new and exciting to them; she hopes to instill in them the love of music that her band directors and teachers have passed on to her.
